After the Races, After the Stunts, After You Need Me No More: A Bicycle Tire Story, SSHRED (Skating, Sustainability, Health Research, and Environmental Design) Online Seminar Series, 2025

As part of SSHRED's academic-led initiative, I delivered a presentation exploring the journey of discarded bicycle tires and their environmental impact. Through this talk, I highlighted how I transform these waste materials into art, reimagining their purpose through sculpture and installation. The seminar delved into broader discussions on sustainability, the consumption habits contributing to tire waste, and the potential for art to foster advocacy and meaningful environmental dialogue.

Talk and Exhibition at Rice University: Transforming Tire Waste

At Rice University, I had the opportunity to present Transforming Tire Waste: Histories, Processes, and Innovative Forms, an exploration of my artistic practice, which transforms discarded inner tubes into meaningful sculptures. As part of the "Energy, Waste, and the Environment in West Africa" conference, I shared insights into the environmental impact of waste, my creative process, and how my work addresses climate change through repurposing tire waste. The exhibition featured pieces that illustrate the potential of discarded materials to tell powerful stories of rebirth and identity. Watch the full talk here.
