Biography

Dela Anyah delves into the history and decay of discarded objects found in local vulcaniser and vehicle repair shops, exploring themes of rebirth and identity through sculpture, installations, photography, painting, and film. His work, inspired by current and historical media accounts, religion, and musings on alternative ways to reuse mounds of waste sprawling through these spaces, reflects on ideas of value and new beginnings amid hopeless conditions. Anyah was an artist in residence at the Noldor Residency in 2022 and was Second Runner Up for the Kuenyehia Prize the following year. His work is held in collections including the Celine Art Project, Sir David Adjaye, Institute Museum of Ghana, and the Isshaq Foundation. Solo exhibitions include Nubuke Foundation and The Noldor Residency in Accra, while group exhibitions include The Anzai Gallery in Tokyo, Museum of Science and Technology in Accra, Mitchell-Innes & Nash in New York, and Galleri Christoffer Egelund in Copenhagen.
