Homecoming Series, 2023–Ongoing
Dela Anyah’s Homecoming is a series of site-specific interventions set within vulcanizer and tire repair workshops, beginning in Accra, Ghana. Working at the intersection of sculpture and installation, Anyah repurposes discarded inner tubes, tires, and industrial fragments, placing them directly into these spaces—sites of labor, repair, and renewal. By inserting his works into these environments, Anyah collapses the boundaries between art and industry, presence and discard, function and obsolescence.
Through these disruptions, Homecoming reconfigures perceptions of materiality and value, drawing attention to the economies that shape our relationship with waste. The project unfolds as an ongoing dialogue with vulcanizers and the surrounding communities, where each placement becomes a moment of negotiation—an assertion of presence that invites reflection on the histories embedded within these spaces and the objects that inhabit them.
