AWULA BAG

Bespoke Bag, Fashion

DELA ANYAH's Awula body of work aims to address and bring solutions to plastic waste by up-cycling plastic debris into functional fashion items.
Dela Anyah used a collection of discarded and used gallons while maintaining a woven cane basket as the frame to hold the work together.
With this body of work however, discarded plastics can have a new life as a avant-garde piece of art for the quirky fashionista who loves to express himself/herself in unique ways.
According to a documentation by Storage.Neic.org, “Normally, plastic items take up to 1000 years to decompose in landfills. But plastic bags we use in our everyday life take 10-20 years to decompose, while plastic bottles take 450 years”. This means that a lot of plastics we see or you are going to be here longer than us, ending up in landfills or the ocean.
To curb having a lot of used gallons in our environment, this collection was made purposely to solve the solution of the abundance of plastic waste in the environment.
