I grew up in church with both my parents being pastors, but for a long time, I was just going through the motions. The only thing I knew of God was that he had to be feared and if I made a mistake, I was condemned to hell. I remember telling God one day, my parents had a reason to believe in you and choose you, I never got that. So please show me who you are. A few months later after reading the book ‘Heaven is for real’ for the first time, I could actually picture God as a God of love, who cared about me. I got on my knees that night and prayed, God, if you’re real, I need you to show me.
While I was sleeping, I felt as if I was falling and in my room (I lived alone) I felt two warm hands on my side holding me and I kept hearing ‘I will uphold you with my righteous right hand’. I woke up and googled those words and it turns out they were from Isaiah 41:10: So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. That for me was when I received the undeniable proof that God was real and God cares for me.
