15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint- heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together
1 Peter 1:23
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Let\’s face facts we suck at religion, the church has declined in wisdom and power since the days of the early church (and we can\’t deny it). And the reason is simple, we are not cut out for religion, the Spirit of God in us yearns for a Father-Son relationship and not a distant God and servant relationship (we are not under the law). We are born again by the word of God (who is the Son of God), we are born again in the likeness of Christ. We are born again as Children of God (with the same spirit Jesus has in Him).
Question: When there is fear in the family, or when children and their parents don\’t bond together (can\’t have a meaningful mature conversation, don\’t understand each other), does the relationship work? No, Not at all. Truth is, that’s exactly what religion came to do. The power in and of the church only begun to decline, when they turned the Abba Father relationship into a religion; when they followed the world (because carnality had crept into the church); when they lost sight of who they were as Children of God.
You can only be good at religion if you don\’t have His Spirit; With His Spirit dwelling in you, you would always suck at religion (that is you would always try to be religious, but you would never really get there). Religion is all about trying to be like the Holy One, but in actual sense we as Children of God are already like our Father. We \”do religion\” because we lack a revelation like Adam and Eve did in the garden, and that\’s why we chase after the things (1 John 2:15-16) of this world, hoping that Satan would make us gods on this earth.
Religion will never ever let you see God through Jesus\’ eyes or yourself clearly through God’s eyes.
