16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
1 Peter 3:14-15
14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness \’sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: 24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Did Paul and Silas need a breakthrough when they were beaten and thrown in jail? Am sure you will yes, but the answer is NO. No, they needed to see how God was going to work all things together for their good, His kingdom and the good of the great commission. By being obedient to the word of God (Philippians 4:6) which says,\” Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God\” , they sung out loud and God provided what looked like a way.
But did they escape? NO. So what did they do instead? They brought the guard and his whole family to Christ?
25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one\’s bands were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. 34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house (Acts 16:25-34).
Sometimes we need to listen to God and find out how everything we are going through through in life can benefit the spreading of the gospel. In times of hardship or trials, we cry out to God for help, but what we need to do or what God wants us to do is to either get one of our tormentors saved or to get someone who knows what we are going through saved.
The devil can\’t steal, kill and destroy without humanbeings; and the gospel of Christ( life) can also not be preached without human beings. There is a battle for good and evil taking place; the children of God versus (the prince of the power of the air working in the children of the devil or disobedience (1 John 3:8-10, Ephesians 2:2). Fighting back evil with evil or paying evil with evil, gets you on the opposite side of the battle line according to 1 John 2:11 and 1 John 3:10. The only way to win this battle or get that breakthrough and peace you are looking for, is to free people from the bondage of sin and death, through the power God gives to those ready to follow Him.
Always pray to God in the mist of anything you go through, to show you how your situation can help spread the gospel or how it can change the lives of people, even if it\’s just one person. This is what Jesus\’ was saying in John 13:35 \”By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another\”.
